Blank Business Cards

Since business cards are a staple of any legitimate enterprise, literally thousands of designs and templates have been designed for every style of company. Business cards range from simple to chic to downright gaudy. Any major office supply outfit such as Staples and Kinkos will have services in store and online that assist customers with business card designs and templates. Customized designs that are initially marked as blank business cards, catering to the individual or company’s needs, are created with computer software and then printed on whichever paper stock the consumer decides.

Like any service, however, this costs money and so many people and companies decide to take a more independent, less expensive route to designing business cards and create their own. This is done quite simply by ordering blank business cards and then using in-house computer software, even Microsoft Word if nothing fancy is required, to create the designs; from there, any personal printer will be able to print out the designs. Blank business card stock comes in many different colors and varieties. An important decision when choosing card stock is between the matte or glossy finish. The glossy is very showy, shiny, and reflects bright color templates to their full advantage. The matte, with its heavy and smoother feel, indicates a more serious and straightforward company. Typically, a colorful design will benefit from the glossy blank cards, whereas a more traditional design, with an ivory background and fine black print, will prefer the matte. Any office supply outfit like Staples or Office Depot will sell the matte and glossy cards. Staples, for example, sells a ream of 250 black cards at around $18 for the ivory or white matte, and $22 for the glossy finish.

The templates themselves are easily accessed in Microsoft Word. The “Envelopes and Labels” section, via the “Letters and Mailings” section in the “Tools” function will direct the Word user to a business card label. Also, typing in “business cards” into the Microsoft Office Assistant will direct the user to a variety of templates. For the more advanced business card designer, other advanced softwares such as “Business Card Studio” and “Business Card Factory Deluxe”, sold separately at office supply outfits like Staples and Office Depot, offer a wider range of templates and designs, and more sophisticated graphics.

The style of a business card depends entirely on the nature of the company or person designing it. Whatever the nature of the card, it should ideally reflect the nature of the business. Fortunately, there are plenty of designs from which to choose.
